Tech designer based in Washington D.C.
I began my career as an in-house graphic designer for a cybersecurity education platform. The valuable experience taught me to prioritize data when making design decisions. This is where my fascination with UX design originated.
Where were you born?
I was born in St. Petersburg, Russia until I moved to the United States at 9 years old. Most of my youngest summers were spent at my grandparents' village in Siberia (it's actually pretty warm during that time). I now reside in the metropolitan area of Washington D.C.
What are you passionate about?
Besides UX, I am passionate about all things creative. On my free time, I like to paint, write, and dance. My newest obsession has been hip hop and urban dancing. Let me know if you want to have a dance battle sometime.
Favorite books?
Aside from various philosophy and political literature, my recent favorite read has been Shikake: the Japanese Art of Shaping Behavior through Design by Naohira Matsumura. It's a light read, but brings a valuable perspective for anyone curious about how daily design patterns can shape our most common experiences.
Anything else?
I love gaming, whether it's a quick level of Super Mario 64 or long game of Scrabble. I believe gamification can change our world. We can gamify classrooms, finance, even our work! I hope to bring this spirit to any project I take on.
